nebox.com is one of a number of new companies offering to simplify users' communication needs via the Internet. The company's primary service is a browser-based, all-in-one messaging application that allows users to receive email, faxes, and voicemail through a single website.
In designing the user interface for this service, I sought to improve upon established browser-based email applications and thus differentiate the site from its competitors. The resulting UI features a single "InBox" for all incoming communications, a user-friendly means of navigation, and a fun and inviting color scheme. A few months following the web application's initial launch, a frames-based layout was designed and launched as an alternate to the standard interface.
Shortly after completing the onebox.com application design, I began work on the company's corporate website. An initial design modeled after the onebox web application was considered but rejected in favor of a more dynamic, energetic approach, seen here. The revised site shares some of the web application's design elements, but introduces new colors, fonts, and images to liven up the site's content and engage new subscribers.
In February 2000, phone.com acquired onebox, at which point its website was redesigned.
